Gillick, Margaret Delaine
Margaret Delaine Gillick, 74, of 3413 H Ave. NW, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Teahen Funeral Home by the Rev. Mark Reasoner. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. A vigil service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, where friends may visit with the family from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Edward; five sons, Brian (Marlene) of Waterloo, Jeff (Cheryl Wilson), Chris (Dyna) and Mike Gillick, all of Cedar Rapids, and Mark of San Francisco; a daughter, Sherri (Kevin Bahr) of Swisher; 10 grandchildren, Justin, Stephanie, Megan, Shannon, Angie, Brianna, Josh, Christian, John Jr. and Demi; two great-grandchildren, Donovyn and Eli; a brother, Clarence (Juliet) Miller of Cedar Rapids; and a sister, Mary Sue Rife of Bedford, Texas.
Margaret was born July 15, 1938, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Alvin and Mildred McPike Miller, and graduated from Lisbon High School in 1956. She was married to the love of her life of 54 years, Edward E. Gillick, on June 21, 1958, in Lisbon. She worked at Wilson Foods from 1956 to 1959 and at Westside Care Center from 1992 to 1995. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.
Margaret enjoyed bowling and being creative with crafts, especially ceramics and designing all seasons wreaths and flower arrangements.
Family was important to Margaret and she cherished all the times the family would gather together.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
