Postel, Bill A.
Bill A. Postel, 58, of Independence, died Saturday afternoon, Jan. 14, 2012, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence, Iowa.
He was born on Sept. 16, 1953, in Vinton, Iowa, the son of Billy Lee and Jean Doris (Olsen) Postel. He attended the Independence Schools and was united in marriage to Charlotte K. Hunziker on June 29, 1973, in Oelwein, Iowa. Bill worked for many years as a truck driver for Halford & Sons and later with Innovative Ag. He loved the outdoors, tinkering with his Farmall tractors and especially raising wildlife on the family acreage.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; mother, Jean Postel; two sons, Jamie (Melony) Postel, Manchester, and Eric Postel, Dundee; two grandchildren; five sisters, Mary Jean (Carl) Eddy, Independence, Pat (Larry) Hunziker, Shellsburg, Brenda (Mike) Freeland, Hudson, Becky (Darrell) Williams, Vinton, and Wendy (Rich) Schoenfield, Independence; and two brothers, Mike Postel, Winthrop, and Kenny (Robin) Postel, Independence.
He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Postel; and a brother, Richard Postel.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, where friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 a.m. until services Thursday. Burial will be in the Wilson Cemetery, Independence, Iowa.
