Edith C. Vogt, 90, of Indianola, died Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at Good Samaritan Society in Indianola. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Thursday, March 3, at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. A visitation will be held one hour before the service. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Edith was born June 7, 1925, the daughter of Harold and Caroline (Church) Usher, in Cedar Rapids. She resided in Cedar Rapids until she was united in marriage to Bernard D. Vogt. They were married on Sept. 26, 1945, in Iowa City. He passed away in 2003. She and Bernard lived on a farm in Palo until 1965. Then they moved back to the Cedar Rapids area. Edith enjoyed camping, traveling, crocheting and reading.
Survivors include her three daughters, Carol Overturf, Charyl (Bill) Dyslin and Sandy (Dan) Kerstiens; five grandchildren, Ginnette (Scott) Burris, Brad (Lana) Overturf, Rob (Traci) Wilson, Michelle (Jim) Moore and Ryan (Natalie) Wilson; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two granddaughters, Kimberly and Carrie Wilson; brother, Harold "Mike" Usher; sister, Darlene Gogg; sons-in-law, David Schnepf and Max Overturf; sister-in-law, Dolores Usher; and brother-in-law, Donald Gogg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to be given to UnityPoint Hospice in Des Moines and Good Samaritan Society in Indianola.
