MICHAEL PETER SHULGIN

Michael Peter Shulgin, 62, of Cedar Rapids, passed away from cancer on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 520 Wilson Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, where there will be a 7 p.m. Scripture service. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his brother, Dan (Susie) Shulgin of Cedar Rapids; sister, Mary Shulgin of Dubuque; and nieces, Geri (Mike) Wallace, Christine King, Hannah (Jason) Wright and Mallory Kantowski.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two nephews, Charles and Jim King.
Michael was born Feb. 9, 1955, the son of Ed and Marge (Scanlan) Shulgin, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He studied physics at the University of Iowa and was passionate about science and technology. Mike loved history, music and reading.
A special thanks to Ross Ferguson, his caregiver, and Hospice of Mercy.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Mike's memory.
