Kenneth W. "Taco" McKnight, 72, of Cedar
Rapids, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center. Memorial services: 12:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. The Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiate. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon; five daughters, Melissa Mackin of Tiffin, Patti Tate and Kim Hyde both of California, June Dillon of Cedar Rapids and Joan Nix of Vinton; seven grandchildren, Kailey, Brandon, Kristy, Brooke, Nick, Tara and Jennifer; four great- grandchildren, Malachi, Mason, Chance and Cheyanne; and his two dogs, Lili and Sami.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ken was born July 30, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Howard and Dorothy Burton McKnight. He graduated from Washington High School in 1963 and later from Universal Trade School in Omaha, Neb.
Ken was owner and operator of NuLife Auto Repair in Marion for many years. He enjoyed camping, dancing, traveling, going to movies, dining out (especially at the Starlite with classmates), and attending car shows. Ken also enjoyed racing stock cars and in later years, sponsored several race teams.
His greatest joy, however, was the time spent with his beloved family and many friends. Ken was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend who always was there to help others. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial fund has been established.
