Kenneth L. Burger, 98, of Hiawatha, died Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Monday. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy "Dottie" of Hiawatha; a son, Terry (Cecelia), and a daughter, Teresa Frisch, both of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Laura (Chris) Ganter and Christopher (Makaila) Burger; five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Alexa and Rylee Ganter, Nicolette and Noah Burger; and one great-great- granddaughter, Olivia Burger.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer; a grandson, Tim Frisch; and a daughter-in-law, Laurie Burger.
Ken was born Oct. 7, 1916, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Leo and Ruth Harper Burger. He married Dorothy E. Okland on Dec. 31, 1970, in Huxley, Iowa.
Ken worked as a manager at FMC for several years. He later was a territorial manager and instructor for Dale Carnegie courses, retiring from there after more than 30 years of service.
Ken enjoyed travel, gardening, reading and working in his yard.
He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial donations may be given to the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
