Brown, Kenneth L.
Kenneth L. Brown, 79, of Cottage Grove Place, died Thursday, March 24, 2011, after an extended illness. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 2, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, by the Rev. Jim Evans, with burial following at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m.
Survivors include two sons, Steve (Teri) Brown of Lake City, Minn., and Jeff (Lori) Brown of Marion; two sisters, Elaine (Bill) Bell of Michigan and Sharon (Jim) Evans of North Carolina; and five grandchildren, Jessica, Amanda, Stephanie, Keith and Kurt.
Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth in 2009; and two sisters.
Ken was born Oct. 24, 1932, in Cass City, Mich., the son of Cecil and Mary (Burt) Brown. He married Ruth E. Sheets on June 18, 1955, in Windom, Minn. Ken was an engineer at Rockwell-Collins for over 37 years, retiring in 1994.
He volunteered at St. Luke's Hospital, ushered for both the Cedar Rapids Symphony and Community Theater, was a charter member of the Cedar Rapids Concert Chorale and a member of New Covenant Bible Church.
Ken's family wishes to thank Cottage Grove Place and St. Luke's Hospice for their care throughout his illness.
A memorial fund has been established.
