Willam Dale Hollar, 73, of Hiawatha, died Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospice. Family and friends will gather from 4 to 6 p.m., with a memorial service at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 18, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Private family inurnment: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his daughters, Makayla Maxa and Theresa (Ron) Moritz; brother, Bruce (Beth) Johnson; sister, Joan (Bob) Logan; and grandsons, Joseph and Jeremy Maxa.
Dale was born May 9, 1942, in Newton, N.C., the son of Fred and Mary (Hudson) Hollar. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966. On March 12, 1966, he married Lynn Griffiths in Harrogate, Yorkshire England. Dale worked in environmental services at St. Luke's Hospital.
He was a member of American Legion Post 735.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lynn; brother, Wayne; and sister, Jean.
