Kenneth Klink
KENNETH KLINK
Iowa City
Kenneth R. Klink, 79, of Iowa City, formerly of West Branch and Manchester, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2014. Memorial services, followed by military honors and a reception, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Iowa City. Typical to his generous spirit, Ken deeded his body to the University of Iowa College of Medicine. He was a huge advocate for medical research and education.
He was born July 27, 1935, in Maynard, Iowa, the son of Elmer and Clara (Brelsford) Klink. He graduated from Maynard High School and married the love of his life, Marjorie Hackett, of Fayette, 60 years from the day of his passing.
The couple moved to Walden Place in Iowa City just before Marjorie's death in 2013 to be closer to their daughter, Kathi Anderson, son-in-law, Mike, and grandchildren, Samantha, Garth and Mateo. Their son, Monte Klink, lives in Arlington, Iowa. Ken also is survived by his brother, Norman Klink of Maynard and sister, Carol Dodge of Boone. Many nieces and nephews and their families also celebrate his life.
Along with his beautiful bride, he was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Pierce.
Ken had been employed in multiple areas of agribusiness and sales.
Fishing, reading, sharing jokes, country gospel music and the Colorado Rocky Mountains were Ken's favorites.
Everywhere they lived, the couple was always very active in the United Methodist Church. Ken was an Army veteran and his family expresses their sincere appreciation to the compassionate VA dialysis staff in Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial donations through the University of Iowa Foundation to the Medicine Research Fund.
