Mickelson, Kenneth Richard
Kenneth Richard Mickelson, 47, of Santa Fe, N.M., passed away Sept. 30, 2013, at Huston Hospice House in Huston, Texas, from pancreatic cancer.
Kenneth was the son of Shirley Mickelson and the late Richard Mickelson of Cedar Rapids Iowa.
Ken was born March 3, 1966, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He graduated from Central Webster High School in Burnside, Iowa and from Iowa State University, with a degree in agricultural business. He lived in Raleigh, N.C., Costa Rica and was now living in Santa Fe, where he was working in international agriculture research.
Ken married Gillian Stammer in June 1996. He is survived by his wife; son, Sam, age 8; daughter, Katherine, age 4; his mother, Shirley Mickelson; two sisters, Karla (Bill) Benbe of Flower Mound, Texas, and Nancy (Tedd) Kipper of Cedar Rapids; brother and sister in-law, Ryan and Delia Stammer of Canada; and father in-law, David Stammer and his friend, Brenda Watt, also of Canada. Ken is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many cousins.
Ken's hobbies were fishing, working in the garden, watching the Iowa State Cyclones, and spending time with his family and friends.
Ken has been cremated and there will be a service in Fort Dodge at a later date.
