Day, Kenneth J.
Kenneth J. Day, 91, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, went home to the Lord Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013. Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at Grace Episcopal Church, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Ken is survived by his wife, Shirley A. Waldrep of Cedar Rapids; children, Sandra (NJ), Kenny (PA) and Nancy (NJ); granddaughter, Vienna Day Cordier; and his extended family of stepchildren, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Also survived by sisters, Jean Marsh and Blandene Richards (Dennis); sister-in-law, Anne Underwood (Dennis); and brother-in-law, Bert Finch (Sandra) of West Midlands, England.
Born May 21, 1922, in Bilston, Staffs, England, Ken served in the Royal Air Force during World War II. His RAF service included multiple missions against the Nazis. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1947, living in Philadelphia and Harrisburg for 54 years before moving to Cedar Rapids in 1977. Ken held B.S. and M.S. degrees in Metallurgical Engineering from Drexel University in Philadelphia.
Ken's cheerful and pleasant disposition, along with his Royal Air Force tales will be missed by all his family and friends.
