Ken was born May 23, 1957, in Jersey City, N.J., the son of Anson and Phyllis Baker. A graduate of Toms River North High School and Wake Forest University, he spent much of his career in the information technology industry. His first job was in marketing for IBM, where he met his wife Susan. The two married on June 25, 1983, and lived in Des Moines before moving to Cedar Rapids in 1991.
