Doris Janet Tenley, 88, of Stanwood, entered into her eternal rest on her birthday, Dec. 18, 2020, in the comfort of her home with her family at her side. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, at Fry Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Stanwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials for the Union Church or Fire and Ambulance Services of Stanwood and may be sent to 401 West St., Stanwood, IA 52337. Doris, daughter of Edgar and Gladys Lyon, was born on Dec. 18, 1932, in Linn County, Iowa. She graduated from Wyoming High School and was married to Dean Allen Tenley on Aug. 18, 1965. Doris was a farm wife and a child care provider, a member of the Stanwood Union Church and the Union Church Circle. Doris was known for her quick-witted comebacks, love of birds, many years of childcare and her "beautiful" decorated yard. She enjoyed quilting, garage sales, collecting cookie jars, puzzles, Christmas and all kids, especially her grand and great-grandkids.

Doris is survived by her children, Dee Ann Koberle of Stanwood, Donna (Garret) Moenk of Monticello, Diane (Paul) Feuss of Oxford Junction, Deborah (Richard) Meyer of Mechanicsville, Denise (Wade) Engelkens of Stanwood and David (Ginger) Tenley of Clarence; sister, Pat (George) Zirkelbach; sister-in-law, Pat Lyon; her brother, Darwin (Darlene) Lyon; 16 grandchildren and 14 1/2 great-grandchildren.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband on July 17, 2012; grandson-in-law, Troy Brown; and siblings, Margaret Pegariek, Norma Tenley, Eugene Lyon, Robert Lyon, Kenneth Lyon and Elaine Husmann.
