KENNETH MENTE

Kenneth Mente, 87, of Tipton, died peacefully in his home on Aug. 19, 2014. Funeral services will be
10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at First United Church of Christ, with the Rev. David Lorenzen and the Rev. Paul Fredericksen officiating. Burial will follow in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will take place Friday between the hours of 4 and 7 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton.
A memorial fund has been established in his memory for the Heartland Sports Complex.

Kenneth, son of Henry Carl and Emma Elizabeth Kahl Mente, was born Aug. 3, 1927, in Lowden, Iowa. He graduated from Tipton High School in 1944. On Feb. 15, 1948, Kenneth was united in marriage to Betty Jean Stakey in St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence. Kenneth farmed southeast of Tipton and was a member of First United Church of Christ in Tipton.
Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Marcey Fahrenholtz of Plymouth, Minn.; his sons, Mark, Michael, Mickey, Marty and Murry Mente, all of Tipton; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Josephine Beer of Iowa City and Genevieve Meier and Geraldine Reeve, both of Tipton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Jean Mente, on July 9, 1990; and his daughter-in-law, Carol Mente.
