Kenneth Long, 69, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 1, at Phillips Funeral Home in Blairstown with the Rev. Doug Woltemath officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established. Condolences may be left at www.phillipsfuneralhomes.com.
Kenneth was born Nov. 29, 1948, in Eldora, to Keith and Linda (Hulsebus) Long. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1967. Kenneth was united in marriage to Sandy Miller on Sept. 2, 1967 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo.
He was a member of Prairie Tractor Pullers for over 30 years. Kenneth was most comfortable spending time in his shop with his fellow tractor pullers and his family, especially his grandchildren.
He survived by his wife, Sandy of Blairstown; his three children and their families, Scott (JoAnn) Long of Blairstown and Stephan and Christopher, Rob (Meredith) Long of Bondurant and Alex, Ashley and Abby, and Kristi (Al) Wright of Van Horne and Cody, Sarah and Kaylie; his mother, Linda Long of Belle Plaine; his sisters, Barb (Paul) Svoboda of Clutier and Janet (Dave) Vavroch of Ankeny; and several nieces and nephews.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his father.
