Lloyd H. Phelps Jr., 70, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015, at his home. Family will greet friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years and high school sweetheart, Sandra Phelps of Cedar Rapids; four daughters, Tammy (Kelly) Johnson of Palo, Cindy (Doug) Werning of Shellsburg, Christy (Randy) Fox of Jessup, Md., and Teresa (Mike) Werning of Atkins; grandchildren, April (Brian) Tusing, Angela (Jerrad) Burian, Chaz (Samantha) Gerace, Jeffery, Matthew and Jessica Werning, Trisha (Tim) Kalb, Tiffany McNulty, Chessa and Kayla Brown and Joshua Werning; and great-grandchildren, Autumn Burian, Braxton Gerace, Tanner Werning, Jonah, Isaac and Sadie Kalb.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ann Wendt.
Lloyd was born July 31, 1945, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, son of Lloyd Sr. and Ruth (Hanson) Phelps. Lloyd wore many hats; he was a farmer all of his life.
He worked as a maintenance mechanic at FMC LinkBelt Speeder for 21 years. For nine years he was a driver for the Cedar Rapids school district and known as "Frog" by all the students. His last full-time job was driving a truck for Van Meter Industries for nine years. His journey was great, filled with humor and love, whose memories will be treasured always.
