Anderson, Gene R.
Grove Baptist Church in rural Central City, Iowa. They were married for 55 years. In his early years, Gene worked at multiple jobs, including farmhand, custom farming, trucking, blacksmithing, etc., until he landed a job on the railroad in 1951 and bought his own farm in 1959. He loved his career as an engineer on the Milwaukee Road and a farmer. Many of his great stories were from these years. Gene had a great allegiance to the ideals of the American Legion. He was a longtime and dedicated member (since 1958) of the Toddville American Legion Post #674. After retirement, Gene and Lorraine spent many years wintering in Arizona following the trap shooting circuit.
Gene was a founding member of the Faith Christian Fellowship in Whittier/Springville. He often spoke of his faith in Jesus as his Savior and quoted his favorite verse, John 14:6 “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father, but by me.” Gene, with his perpetual smile and stories, will be greatly missed.
