After what police say was an attempt to get answers from his girlfriend's former employer, a 26-year-old Iowa City man was jailed Wednesday on suspicion of breaking items in the Java House in east Iowa City.
Timothy John Hildreth Jr. was arrested about 8 p.m. Wednesday on suspicion of third-degree criminal mischief after police say he entered the Java House coffee shop at 1575 First Ave. and confronted a manager about his girlfriend's firing, according to a criminal compliant.
Hildreth is accused of then shoving a metal rack holding glass containers onto the floor, breaking several items and a nearby window. The damage was valued at $750, according to police.
He was released from the Johnson County Jail on Thursday morning.
