David Lee Karr "Suds," 72, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, at Colonial Manor in Amana. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
David was born Oct. 30, 1942, to his parents, Raymond and Betty (Dowler) Karr. He graduated in 1961 from Newhall High School and began working at Wilson Packing Co. He then worked at Whitters Turf Farm before starting his own trucking company, Dave Karr Trucking. He married Becky Hahn in Cedar Rapids on April 14, 1962, and they later divorced.
Dave was a past member of the Eagles Club, Moose Lodge and the Cedar Boat Club.
Dave is survived by his daughter, Robyn (Dennis) Whiting of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Ryan (Megan) Hagenow, Kylie Hagenow and Alex Gibson; his great-grandsons, Sawyer and Skyler Hagenow; two brothers, Dennis (JoAnn) Karr of Newhall and Don Karr of Marion; his son-in-law, Brian (Renae) Gibson of Walford; his former wife, Becky Karr of Cedar Rapids; and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Jill Gibson.
Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, watching sports and NASCAR and cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren.
