John L. Lawrence, 66, of Arlington, Wash., formerly of Central City, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021. Service will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 13, at Wellers Funeral Home, in Arlington. Burial will follow service at Arlington Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Gabe, Logan, Isiah, Courtney, Jacob and Eli.
John was born in Anamosa, Iowa, to Luke and Lois Lawrence on Dec. 23, 1954.
He graduated from Central City High School. He married Jodi Renee Cooley on July 10th, 1982 in Colorado atop the Rocky Mountains. He worked as a Union Iron Worker and owned a towing business in Anchorage, Alaska, for many years. In his younger years he enjoyed riding his 1956 Harley Davidson, halibut fishing, and running his business. As he got older he enjoyed gardening, spending time with his grandchildren and going to the casino.
He is survived by daughters, Heather Cortez, Jessica Wullner Meredith, Amanda (Josh) Zahn, Jonielle Spillers and Toni Lawrence; brother, Rick (Nancy) Lawrence; sister, Lynn Marie (Dean) Holton; father, Luke Lawrence; 14 grandchildren, Gabriel, Isiah, Gracie, Chloe, Damon, Courtney, Eli, Damieon, Emilee, Logan, Jazmynn, Jacob, Nash and Noelle; and one great-grandchild on the way.
He was preceded in death by wife, Jodi Lawrence; mother, Lois Lawrence; grandchildren, Jovon, Kaylee and Brooke; and son-in-law, Billy Spillers.
