Janet Ruth Donels, 71, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, Iowa. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at the funeral home. Pastor Michael Erickson will officiate. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Janet was born Nov. 24, 1946, in Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of Melvin and Vina (Gilbreaith) Hahn. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1964, and worked at Buresh Rental before working at Gee Grading. Janet was a member of the VFW and Moose Lodge.
Janet is survived by her children, Amy (Jeff) Whitaker of South English, Iowa, and Troy (Tracy) Donels of Hiawatha; grandchildren, Jared Tandle, Amanda Tandle, Logan Potter and Taylor Donels; three great-grandchildren, Hannah, Dallas and Carter; and sister, Becky Karr of Cedar Rapids.
She now is joined with her loved ones in heaven: parents, Melvin and Vina; daughter, Heidi Rae Donels; sister, Shirley Hull; niece, Jill Gibson; and special friend, Jerry Stepanek.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Living Center West and Hospice House of Mercy for their loving care of Janet.
