Brincks, Eugene Bernard 'Gene'
Eugene Bernard “Gene” Brincks, 70, of Marion, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2011, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Funeral Mass will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion, where a vigil service will begin at 7 p.m. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
Gene is survived by his wife of 48 ½ years, Mary Ann of Marion; daughter, Beth Brincks of Boone; son, Brian Brincks of Marion; three grandchildren, Austin, Casey and Troy; sister, Elaine (Ken) Sprague of Harlan; and two brothers, Dale (Diane) Brincks of Omaha, Neb., and Jerry (Jeannie) Brincks of Sioux Falls. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Gene was born March 2, 1941, in Carroll, Iowa, to Edward and Ida (Sapp) Brincks. He graduated from Carroll High School in 1960 and was a member of the U.S. Army National Guard for six years. Gene married Mary Ann Wiskus in 1963. He was a gas dispatcher with Alliant Energy for over 30 years, and following his retirement, worked in the electronics department at Walmart for 10 years.
Gene was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy and Mercy Hospice for their kindness.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Gene's memory.
