Bemer, Gene A.
Gene A. Bemer, 56, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, in his home following a short illness. Services: Thursday 10 a.m. at Teahen Funeral Home by Rev. Craig Bex. Burial: Spring Grove Cemetery-Covington. A visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home. Friends may also visit after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Gene is survived by his mother, Marlyn Gilbert of Cedar Rapids; brothers, Phillip of Cedar Rapids, Larry (Sandra) of Ohio, and Richard (Sandra) of Manchester; nieces, Melissa Bemer, Mysty Bemer, Dawnel Lowther, Corie Duwe and Nicole Moore; nephews, Larry Bemer Jr., Phillip Bemer Jr., William Thurn and Frank Thurn; and several great-nieces and nephews.
His father, Elmer Bemer; grandparents, Wayne and Madge Ford; brother, Randy Bemer; and sister-in-law, Janet Bemer, preceded Gene in death.
Gene was born May 25, 1953, the son of Elmer Dale Bemer and Marlyn Peggy Ford Gilbert. He graduated from Kennedy High School.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
On Angel's wings of silver light, Gene's soul took to flight, carried up to Heaven's city of gold, reunited with family and friends of old. Gene is home in God's tender care, and in our time we will see him there.
