Abbott, Richard Charles
Richard Charles Abbott, 71, of Anamosa, died suddenly Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at his home. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. A private family burial at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Mount Auburn will take place at a later date.
Surviving are his father, Lester of Anamosa; a sister, Karen (Mike) Dulaney of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Jim Abbott of Columbus, Ohio; nieces and nephews, Kimberly (B.J.) Trickey of Cedar Rapids, Tom (Amy) Abbott of Glendale, Wis., and Andrew Abbott of Columbus, Ohio; and great-nieces, Lauren and Taylor Abbott.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Irma; two infant siblings; and a sister-in-law, Sally Abbott.
Richard was born May 27, 1941, in Mount Auburn, Iowa, the son of Lester and Irma Reiss Abbott. Richard attended Morley Consolidated Schools, where his favorite teacher was Ms. Elsie McInalty.
Richard's passion was bowling with the Anamosa Bowling League. He enjoyed working with ceramics, in his workshop and in the yard.
He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend and will be missed dearly by those closest to him.
The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the people of Anamosa for their continued show of concern for Richard over the years. Richard's special condition was recognized by the people of this town in a very caring way.
