Reiss, Leo F.
Leo F. Reiss, 82, of Rosewood Estates, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, at home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with burial at
2 p.m. in Calvary Cemetery, Ryan, where full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 692 of Ryan. Public visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday (today) at Hagraty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 4:30 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary. Visitation will continue at the church for one hour before services on Saturday.
He was born July 16, 1927, in Cedar Rapids, son of Louis and Lorena Heiberger. He married Rosella Markovetz on Aug. 28, 1954, in Waterloo.
Mr. Reiss graduated from St. John's High School, Ryan and Loras College, Dubuque. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a partner in Mail-Me-Mail Accounting and was later employed at Rath Packing Company and John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works until his retirement.
Survivors include: his wife; four sons, Louis (Virginia), Joseph (Shari) and Steven, all of Waterloo and Edward of Des Moines; six daughters, Mary Ohrt, Janet (Craig) Drewelow, Susanne (Tim) Schultz and Phyllis (Kevin) Foley, all of Waterloo, Katherine (Greg) Armstrong of Beaver Dam, Wis. and Barbara (Gary) Konicek of Rochester, Minn; 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Leland of Ryan; and a sister, Lois Byrne of Marion.
Preceded in death by: his parents; a grandson, Dana; a son-in-law, Del Ohrt; a sister, Lorraine (Charles) Kennedy; a sister in infancy; a brother-in-law, Dan Byrne; and a sister-in-law, Waunetta Reiss.
Memorials may be directed to Columbus High School or the Knights of Columbus.
