Randy S. Buchheim, 57, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., after a lengthy illness. A gathering in celebration of Randy's life will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at Lowe Park Arts and Environment Center – Red Oak Room, 4500 N. 10th St., Marion.
Randy was born Nov. 1, 1957, in Cedar Rapids to Richard and Wanda (Wilson) Buchheim. After receiving his associate degree from Kirkwood Community College, he worked as a custodian for various businesses in Cedar Rapids.
He was a sports enthusiast, and enjoyed cheering on the Minnesota Twins, Chicago Bears and Iowa Hawkeyes.
Randy is survived by four siblings, Rick (Gwen) Buchheim of Marion, Rhonda (Gene) Tang, Rob (Alicia) Buchheim and Ryan Buchheim, all of Cedar Rapids; five nieces and two nephews; uncle, Ben (Rogene) Buchheim of Cedar Rapids; uncle, Harvey Wilson of Bloomfield; aunt, Judy Rupe of Coggon; and special friend, Karen Lathrop of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
