Steven Wayne Lauterwasser, 38, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018.

Steve was born May 27, 1979, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Mark and Sharon (Balhorn) Lauterwasser. He graduated in 1997 from Jefferson High School, Cedar Rapids. Steve was a transit driver for the city of Cedar Rapids for 19 plus years and taught oil painting at the Ambroz Center. He loved playing the guitar, the outdoors, fishing for catfish, and was an avid hunter with the Ely Boys. Steve rode with and drove for the cycling team "Subtle Savages" on RAGBRAI for the past 10 years.

Steve is survived by his wife, Christina Lauterwasser, and their children, Lauren, Nathan, Isaac and Blake, all of Cedar Rapids; parents, Mark and Sharon Lauterwasser of Cedar Rapids; brother, Ryan (Amanda) Lauterwasser, and their children, Cole and Calvin; sister, Sara (Jason) Wood, and their children, Troy, Jaden, Kaylee and Mark, all of Cedar Rapids; and paternal grandmother, Rozella Lauterwasser of Newhall; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Steve was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Lewis Lauterwasser; paternal step-grandfather, Howard Wiegend; maternal grandparents, Merle and Marlys Balhorn; and his uncle, Bruce Lauterwasser.

Visitation: noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 4, at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood, Cedar Rapids. Funeral service: 6:30 p.m. Sunday, March 4, at Veritas Church, 509 Third St. SE, Cedar Rapids, officiated by Pastor Richard Marsceau.
