Clyde, Kathryn Kay 'K.C.'
Kathryn Kay “K.C.” Clyde, 71, of Center Point, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at Harmony House, Waterloo. Family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at First Christian Church, Center Point, by the Rev. John Caughron. Inurnment: Center Point Cemetery.
Survivors include her children, Debra Clyde of Center Point, Diana (Philip) Holmes of Indian Valley, Idaho, James Clyde and Dawn (Mark) Straw, both of Center Point; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Holmes and Brian Holmes, both of Idaho, Trenton Clyde and Katelyn Straw, both of Center Point; and her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; brother, Ivan (Charlotte) Newland; and sister, Myrna (Lee) Schamel.
Kay was born April 15, 1939, the daughter of DeClaude and Beulah (McArthur) Newland, in Center Point, Iowa. She was a proud member of the graduating class of 1957 from Center Point High School. Kay was united in marriage to Jack Clyde at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, on June 15, 1958. He died Nov. 17, 2010. Kay worked at Craemers Department Store in Cedar Rapids and in 1965, went to work at Collins Radio, retiring in 1994 after 29 years of service.
An avid Hawkeye and Cubs fan, Kay enjoyed traveling to see her grandchildren and wintering in Alamo, Texas, with Jack. She was a member of First Christian Church in Center Point and IBEW Local No. 1362.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Kay.
