Gary Lee Weichers, 73, of Fairfax, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.
Gary was born Feb. 16, 1945, the son of John and Lucille (Dobel) Weichers, in Floyd County, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict. On March 25, 1995, Gary was married to Constance Sherman.
He worked as a mechanic and enjoyed doing mechanical projects around the house. Gary also enjoyed outdoor activities and yardwork and was an avid golfer. He and Constance loved to travel around the United States.
Survivors include his wife, Constance Weichers of Fairfax; two daughters, Michelle (Larry) Spitler of Munford, Tenn., and Jenny (Chris) Tullos of Drummonds, Tenn.; stepson, Curt (Angela) Hansel of Solon; stepdaughter, Cyndi Hansel of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four grandchildren, Justin, Hunter, Britney and Victoria; four siblings, Carol (Dean) Niehaus of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Roger (Marg) Weichers of Winona, Minn., Larry (Judy) Weichers of Escondido, Calif., and Donna Gladish of Cedar Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Richard Gladish.
Memorials may be directed to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital in memory of Gary.
