Phyllis Jean Meade, 69, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 21, 2016, of cancer.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Phyllis's birthday -- 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with the Very Rev. Rudolph Juarez officiating. Phyllis donated her body to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program. Burial will be at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Church or Iowa City Hospice.
Phyllis was born Aug. 4, 1946, in Iowa City, the daughter of Marvin and Betty Zajicek Ham. She was a graduate of Solon High School. Phyllis married Ronald Meade on Sept. 8, 1972, at St. Patrick's Church.
Phyllis was caring, selfless and loving. Most important to Phyllis was her family, especially her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She loved Hawkeye football and time spent traveling and reading.
Phyllis is survived by her loving husband, Ron; their son, Chad (Alexandra) of Chicago; her two grandchildren, Charlotte and Julian; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Patricia Haman, Ron Ham, Bonnie Noel and Tom Ham; sister-in-law, Dawn Ham; and her niece, Merrick Ham.
