Miller, Anna Marie
Anna Marie Miller, 89, of Solon, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at Mercy Iowa City. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon, with Father David Wilkening presiding. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil. Brosh Chapel in Solon is in charge of arrangements.
Anna Marie was born Aug. 30, 1919, in Iowa City, the daughter of George and Gertrude Rohret Haman. She graduated from Cosgrove High School. She worked for a few years in the newborn nursery at Mercy Hospital until she married George Miller on Feb. 18, 1941, in Cosgrove. George and Anna Marie lived and spent all of their married life in the Solon area. She was involved in many civic and church organizations, including Forresters, the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Mary's, was a 4-H leader, as well as a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a volunteer with Johnson County Cancer Society. Anna Marie liked to travel, spending the winter in Mesa, playing pinochle and golf. Family and farming were very important to her all her life.
She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother to all and will be greatly missed.
Anna Marie is survived by her children, Mary Anne (Dennis) Erenberger of Ely, Sharon (Robert) Kramer of Greenwood, Ind., Susan (Steven) Julius of Solon, Donald Miller of Solon and Dean Miller (Patty Anson) of Solon; 10 grandchildren, Lisa (Joseph) Whitehead, Thomas (Krystin) Erenberger, Kate (Brandon) Scheer, Erika (Andy) Switzer, Brad (Stephanie) Kramer, Denise (Robert) Imoehl, Jeff (Dawn) Bair, Steve Miller, Amy Miller and Andy Miller; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, George (Dorothy) Haman; and sisters, Monica Krall and Alice (Robert) Walter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, as well as two sons, David Miller and Steve Miller; a daughter-in-law, Patti Divoky-Miller; a brother, Eugene Haman; and a brother-in-law, Harold Krall.
