Neola Joyce Hansel, of Manchester, Iowa, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at Cornerstone Community Church, Manchester, with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Manchester.
Neola Joyce Hansel was born on March 30, 1934, in Independence, Iowa, the daughter of Hugh Jonas and Garnet Blanche (VanAuken) Hon.
Neola attended Evans country school, Coffins Grove Township School, and graduated from Manchester High School in 1951. Neola married William Bishop and they had four children. They later divorced. She worked as a bookkeeper for F&M Bank in Manchester. She then worked for First State Bank for 20 years as a bookkeeper and teller. On Feb. 26, 1983, she married Robert F. Hansel at Bethany Baptist Church in Iowa City. Neola was a cook at Delaware County Memorial Hospital for 10 years. After retirement, she and Bob operated Hansel's B & B Inn in their home.
Neola's family includes her husband, Robert of Manchester; four children, Joyce (Tim) Foster of Manchester, Audrey (Jerald) Hale of Manchester, Jorja (James) Mason of Iowa City and Arla (Fred) Lara of Palmview, Texas; three stepchildren, Kathy (Gary) Blackford of Marion, Candace (Larry) Wheeler of Troy, Mich., and Craig (Joyce) Hansel of Iowa City; a sister, Gail (Dave) Utley of Iowa City; 11 grandchildren, Angie (Bill) Tye, Jill (Jeff) Schmidt, Stephanie (Erron) Wright, Joshua (Erin) Hale, Andrea Hale, Chelsea (Blake) Elias, Callyn Mason, Kara Lara, Sara Lara, Caleb Lara and Christian Lara; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Neola was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Ronald Hon.
Memorials may be directed to Spring Valley Bible Camp, Muscatine, Iowa.
