Jean M. Overton, 78, of Cedar Rapids, died at her home on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Sharon United Methodist Church by Pastor Kevin Moore. Burial: Garrison Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Teahen Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Sheila Bys of Cedar Rapids; three sons, Richard (Debby) Ross of Dubuque, Steven (Kathy) Overton of Modesto, Calif., and Ronald (Dotti) Overton of Largo, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Toni Overton of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren, Jeremy, Travis, Kimberly, Pamela, Kelly, Zebediah, Catherine, Benjamin and Brenden; and 11 great-grandchildren, Marissa, Landon, Lyndsi, Faith, Janae, Keira, Sequoia, Seamus, Luke, Morrison and Abel; brother, Art (Maggie) Roberts of Dunkerton; and sister, Kathy (Bob) Terry of Liscom.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; son, David; parents; brother, Melvin; and sister, Janice Peevy.
Jean was born July 16, 1938, in Wayne County, the daughter of Daryl and Wilma George Roberts. She married Stanley R. Overton on March 24, 1964, in Galena, Ill. He died in 1999. Jean was a homemaker and loved spending time taking care of her family.
Jean enjoyed watching movies and attending church and performances at the Cedar Rapids Symphony and Theatre Cedar Rapids.
