Kathleen "Kay" Williams, 92, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, with her loving family by her side.
A visitation will be held Monday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 1, at 1 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Kay was born Dec. 8, 1923, to Edward and Nadina (Lynn) Hilliard in Des Moines, Iowa. On April 5, 1946, she was united in marriage to Ralph "Jim" Williams in Ottumwa. While raising her three children, she began to sell World Book Encyclopedias. Her talent in sales stood out and she then was recruited to work for Coldwell Banker Hedges as a Realtor.
Kay enjoyed collecting art, listening to music and dancing. She loved to play golf and spend time with friends and family.
Kay was described by many as a classy lady and the matriarch of the work office at Coldwell Banker Hedges. She also was known as someone who lifted the spirits of others. Her father called her his "Ange," short for Angel, and a close friend of hers called her his "Sunshine."
Kay is survived by her two sons, Bob (Shu-Ya) Williams of Shoreline, Wash., and Jim (Julie) Williams of Pleasant Hope, Mo.; six grandchildren, Kristin (Arthur Yu) Williams of Shoreline, Lauren, Claire, Connor and Shane Williams, all of Pleasant Hope, and Johnathan Heng; six great-grandchildren; and nephews, Mike, Pat, Dan, Tim and Terry Flick.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 30 years, Jim; her parents; her son, Shane; and her sister, Bobbie Flick.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art or Community Health Free Clinic.
