Rae Patricia Wilkins
Rae Patricia McDermott Wilkins of Iowa Park, Texas died June 4, 2012, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Memorial services were June 7 at First United Methodist Church of Iowa Park, with Dr. Jon Eckstein, pastor, officiating. Arrangements with Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park.
Rae was born at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on July 30, 1933, to Leo A. and Lera L. (Manion) McDermott. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1951. She especially enjoyed art and drew and painted many pictures. She worked at J.C. Penney's art and design department after graduation. She married Marion Wilkins on Feb. 14, 1953, in Cedar Rapids. After Marion entered the military in 1953, they traveled in many states together, enjoying the experience of travel and meeting new people.
After their military life they settled in Cedar Rapids, where she worked at Iowa Illinois Gas and Electric Co. and became a homemaker. In 1975, she and Marion moved to Iowa Park, Texas There she transferred her Methodist Church membership to First United Methodist Church of Iowa Park and served in several capacities. She was past member of the Garden Club of Iowa Park.
Rae was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Wayne.
Survivors include her husband, Marion; a son, Kenneth Wilkins and wife Julie of Hastings, Minn.; granddaughters, Jessica Riviness and husband Luke of Duluth, Minn., and Courtney Wilkins of Duluth, Minn.; a stepsister, Joyce Jennings; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church, 201 East Bank, Iowa Park, TX 76367.
