ARTHUR INGOLF EGGEN
Cedar Rapids
Arthur Ingolf Eggen, 98, of Cedar Rapids, entered heavens gates on April 3, 2016. He was a born again believer whose greatest desire was to glorify God with his life.
He was born Nov. 1, 1917, in Chicago, to Norwegian immigrants, Peder Iversen Eggen and Marie (Dahl). He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II. He met his wife while working at Motorola. He continued to work there many years as a draftsman. He served faithfully as a Sunday school teacher, elder and audio technician at Jefferson Park Evangelical Free Church. He retired from Magnaflux at age 65. Art enjoyed writing and tinkering with things, especially clocks. He played the harmonica and loved to correspond with others.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Peter Emil; his half brother, Peter Ingolf; and his wife, Sue Marie (Bodin).
He is survived by his son, Paul Eggen of Bloomingdale, Ill.; and daughter, Joyce Peet of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Jody (Derrick) Daringer of Cedar Rapids, Jamie (Brian) Googins of Blaine, Minn., Julie (Brad) Schooley and Jason (Sherri) Peet, all of Cedar Rapids; and 11 great-grandchildren, Zach, Adri, Steph, Matt, Devin, Dustin, Sadie, Dylan, Kyla, Kyra, Alex, and one on the way.
Art was laid to rest at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Arlington Heights, Ill. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 16, at Stonebridge Church, 1829 Stoney Point Rd. SW, Cedar Rapids.
