Cherryholmes, Arthur L.
Arthur L. Cherryholmes, 79, of Oelwein, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, at his home. A memorial service will be held at a later date. There will not be a visitation. Inurnment: Chariton Cemetery, Chariton, Iowa, at a later date. Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
Arthur Loyal Cherryholmes was born Nov. 26, 1930, at Chariton, Iowa, the son of Loyal Charles and Eva Osella (Moats) Cherryholmes. He graduated from Chariton High School. Art worked on the Maytag Farm at Newton for 25 years. He later moved to Cedar Rapids and became a truck driver. Art had been a resident of Oelwein for the past 15 years.
Art is survived by his two daughters, Patty (Charles) Usborne of Ashburn, Va., and Sandra M. Shepprd of Growetown, Ga.; four grandchildren, including Brian Girdner of Swanee, Ga.; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd Cherryholmes and Burl (Pauline) Cherryholmes, both of Marion; two sisters, Frances Prather and Martha Smith, both of Russell, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Dowe, Keith and Marshall.
