Arthur George Pudgil was born April 10, 1931, in Iowa City, the son of Arthur J. and Gweneth (Weiss) Pudgil. After graduation from high school Art attended the University of Iowa before being drafted into the Korean conflict, serving in the United States Army. He returned to Iowa following service and was united in marriage to Ruthe Baker on May 22, 1955, in Ames, Iowa. The couple settled in Iowa City, later moving to Coralville on 10th Avenue where they lived for many years. Art worked as a supervisor in the engineering department of the College of Engineering at the University of Iowa for over 40 years, retiring in 1990.
Art was a member of the Coralville United Methodist Church, Coralville American Legion and the Iowa City Moose Lodge. He enjoyed much in life, especially fishing and golf. If he wasn't in his boat at Lake Macbride or the Coralville Reservoir, he was knocking that little white ball all over Hi Point Golf Course! He also would admit to being an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs fan, but most dear to him was his family and he to them!
His family includes his wife, Ruthe; daughters, Kim Zerbe (Doug) and Vikki Lagerstrom; and grandchildren, Haley Lagerstrom and Griff Lagerstrom. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Gwendolyn Brown.
Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Art's family and his services.
