Richard E. Smith was born March 23, 1933, in Webster, Iowa. On Aug. 8, 1954, Dick was united in marriage to Betty N. Reinert at North English Christian Church. He died on Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Colonial Manor of Amana at the age of 83 years.
Dick is survived by his wife, Betty of Walford; two daughters, Debra (Gary) Hall of Walford and Kimberly (Richard) Ebsen of Middle Amana; one granddaughter, Jennifer Ebsen; two great-granddaughters, Arianna Ebsen and Kailee Ebsen; a stepgrandson, Jason Hall; a sister, Doris Lockridge of North English; and a sister-in-law, Helen Smith of Stewartville, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles D. Smith; and two sisters, Betty Chitwood and Dorothy Buser.
Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 6, at Clover Ridge United Methodist Church, Walford. The Rev. Mike Townsley will officiate. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Clover Ridge United Methodist Church, Walford. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Clover Ridge United Methodist Church.
