Welma M. Welper, 99, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at Heritage Care & Rehab, Mason City. Celebration of Life: 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Family will greet friends one hour before the service. Private inurnment: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Welma M. Welper was born Oct. 31, 1915, to her parents, Amos and Elma (Glick) Wood. She married Alfred Welper and he passed away July 18, 1981. She was a homemaker and owned Town Square Bookstore in Marion for many years.
Welma was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Marion.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Edward) Lala of Mason City; two granddaughters, Brenda (David) Lala Black and Marsha Lala, both of Broomfield, Colo.; and four great-grandchildren, Haley Black, Ben Black, Jordan Lala and Beatrice Lala.
Welma was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two grandsons, David and Michael Lala; and two great-granddaughters, Zoe Lala and Elizabeth Black.
