Kathryn was born Aug. 4, 1930, the daughter of Miles and Nellie (Horr) Glick in Olin, Iowa. Kathryn remained in Olin and attended school in the area as she grew up. She spent her later years in Tipton. She married Harlan Garlick in Anamosa, Iowa, on Sept. 4, 1946, when she was 16 years old. Besides being a homemaker, Kathryn worked alongside Harlan doing construction work. She enjoyed going to garage sales, reading, crossword puzzles, solitaire and pinochle. She absolutely did not like gossip and felt that people deserved better when they were down and out on their luck. Kathryn was quiet and kept to herself mostly, but she was very kind and easily got along with anybody she met.
Kathryn is survived by her daughters, Diana (Larry) Mueller of Tipton and Cathie (Mike) Ehlers of Kaukauna, Wis.; son, Steven (Nichole Kurth) Garlick of Tipton; brother, Jay Glick of Anamosa; grandchildren, Kim Oltman, Bobbie Jo Oltman, Melinda Norris, Chad Mueller, Joshua Ehlers and Ashley Ehlers; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Gerald; daughter, Wilma (Billie) Oltman; sisters, Reba Woods, Doris Will, Nona Biedenbach and Ruby Glick; and brothers, James Glick, Keith Glick, Clifford Glick and Richard Glick.
Cards and memorials may be sent to Diana and Larry Mueller, 2017 Summit Dr., Tipton, IA 52772.
