ANAMOSA - After years of operating a temporary store in Sturgis, S.D., before, during and after the annual Sturgis Rally, J&P Cycles is planning a permanent location in the motorcycle mecca.
The Anamosa-based retailer of aftermarket motorcycle parts, clothing, and accessories, expects to open its store at 1650 Lazelle St. in June. The building, which has been used for a temporary store, will be undergoing a face-lift before the opening.
Zach Parham, J&P Cycles vice president and general manager, said the Sturgis retail center will house a wide assortment of motorcycle parts and accessories, including exhausts, seats, windshields, and saddlebags as well as leathers and other apparel items.
'J&P Cycles has been part of the Sturgis Rally for over 30 years,” Parham said. 'With the tourist attractions, traffic, and economic development taking place within Sturgis, opening this location year-round is a win-win for J&P Cycles and the City of Sturgis.”
J&P Cycles also operates a 15,000-square-foot store in Ormond Beach, Fla.
The 36-year-old company's annual open house in June has been moved from the corporate headquarters campus off Highway 151 to the Jones County Fairgrounds. Last year, the event drew about 35,000 people, prompting J&P Cycles to move it to a larger venue.
