GARY ARNO LENTH Atkins Gary Arno Lenth, 81, of Atkins, Iowa, formerly of St. Olaf, passed away on March 9, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids due to complications from surgery. He was born on Feb. 24, 1937, to Arno and Hilda (Huebner) in St. Olaf, Iowa. Gary graduated from Elkader School in 1954. He farmed with his dad until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in April 1960. He served in Germany and helped guard the Berlin Wall. He was honorably discharged in April 1962. Gary was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Connie Mueller, on June 21, 1963. They were blessed with three children. He worked at St. Olaf Co-op until it closed, then did construction at K Construction of Elkader until retirement. He enjoyed doing search a word, playing cards (especially with his grandchildren), fishing and spending time with his family. Gary and Connie spent their married life in St. Olaf until November 2011, when they moved to Atkins. Survivors include his wife, Connie of Atkins; son, Todd (Lisa) Lenth of Elkader; daughter, Shelly (Brian) Rawson of Atkins; six grandchildren, Rusty, Brandi, McKenzie, Laren, Brody and Gabrielle; four great-grandchildren, Brianna, Quinten, Maximus and Sheylynn; one sister, Maxine Kuehl; and one brother, Virgil (Caroline) Lenth. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Sherry Lynn Henning. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elkader is assisting the family. Online condolences may be left at www.graufuneralhomes.com.
