BETTY SWYERS Marion Betty Lorayne Swyers, 88, of Marion, died Monday, May 11, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral service: 1 p.m. Thursday May 14, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. Survivors include her children, Rusty (Dee) Swyers of Robins, Dusty (Jeannie) Swyers of Cedar Rapids, Becky Swyers of Olin; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; her sister, Glennis Brawner of Colfax. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond W. "Ray" Swyers; a brother, Harry Covington; and two sisters, Weltha Wall and Norma Morarie. Betty was born June 8, 1926, in Viola, the daughter of Harry and Verda Mae (Wells) Covington. She married Raymond "Ray" Swyers on June 27, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo.
