George 'Junior' Bean
GEORGE JACOB "JUNIOR" BEAN
Marengo
George "Junior" Bean was reunited with his wife, Eunice; son, Richard; parents; other friends and relatives as his Heavenly Father welcomed him into His presence through a peaceful passing at Marengo Memorial Hospital Hospice on Friday evening, Jan. 29, 2016.
George was a lifetime Iowa County resident raising his family while actively engaged in farming activities from the days of his youth through the 90th year of his life in Sumner Township near Marengo.
George was born on Dec. 1, 1920, the son of Anna F. (Janssen) Bean and George Benjamin Lovell Bean. He attended elementary school in Sumner Township and graduated from Ladora High School in 1940. He married the love of his life, Eunice L. Haas, daughter of Esther (Scandridge) Haas and John F. Haas, on April 21, 1943. Eunice and he celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary shortly before Eunice's passing on June 27, 2009.
The marital covenant of Eunice and George was blessed with four sons, Richard Jess (deceased Jan. 26, 1995), Larry George (Margo) of Casper, Wyo., Leslie John (Susan) of Williamsburg and Don William (Tanya) of Marengo. He was also blessed with 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Christmas dinners were always a delightful family reunion.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at Kloster Funeral Home, 298 W. Washington St., Marengo. Memorial services to celebrate George's life will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Victor Baptist Church, 201 Seventh St., Victor, followed by a graveside service at Ohio Methodist Cemetery. George's good friend, Christian brother and longtime pastor, Dan Andrews, will preside over the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests an honorarium to Marengo Memorial Hospital Foundation, East Iowa Camp or the charitable organization of your choice.
