Curl, Michael L.
Michael L. Curl died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at his home in Marion at the age of 63 years. Celebration of Life services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. The Rev. Marlene Janssen will officiate. Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Michael was born May 4, 1946, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Raymond L. and Pearle Cummings Curl. He graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1965. He was a member of the United State Marines. He worked in the automobile industry as a mechanic for several years. On July 31, 2005, he was united in marriage to Laurel Satterwhite in Coralville. He lived in Wellman, Indiana, Texas and Coralville before residing in Marion. He was a member of the Cedar Rapids Corvette Club and a past member of the Coralville VFW and Legion Riders of Coralville. He enjoyed anything to do with cars and riding his motorcycle. He was looking forward to the birth of another grandchild.
He is survived by his wife, Laurel of Marion; his children, Jodi Kelly of McHenry, Ill., and Tina Curl of West Branch; three stepchildren, Christy (Spencer) Orcutt of Coralville, Patty (Ryan) Fitzgerald of Pleasant Prairie, Wis., and Shawn Roob of Marion; six grandchildren; his father, Raymond Curl (Helen Ruth Yoder), a brother, Patrick Curl (Elizabeth), and a sister, Tamra (Carl) Young, all of Wellman; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and grandparents.
A memorial fund has been established for the Legion Riders Club in Coralville.
