Survivors include her husband, Earl W. Merritt; Freddy, the dog; her son, Steve (Gayle) Duncan of Dublin, Va.; her stepchildren, Beverly (Gary) Peters of Ames, Robert (Cindy) Merritt of Anamosa, Rebecca (Alan) Rawson of Alburnett, Bradley (Theresa) Merritt of Springville, William (Sandy) Merritt of Center Point and Betty (Jason) Kirklin of Robins; a stepson-in-law, Gerald Norman of Whittier; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry (Sandy) Parsons of Lake Oswego, Ore.; and sister, Chris (George) Howland of Vancouver, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and stepdaughter, Barbara Norman.
Judi was born Feb. 15, 1939, in Portland, Ore., the daughter of George and Clementine (Helgeland) Parsons. She married Earl W. Merritt on April 25, 2001. Judi worked as a food service director in Mount Pleasant.
She enjoyed puzzles, socializing with her group of ladies online, spending time with her grandchildren, and anything purple.
Judi was a loving person who always made time for everyone; she had a heart of gold and shared it with all. Judi always worried about Earl more than she did herself.
The family extends a special thank you to the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Judi's memory.
