Norman, Barbara Ann
Barbara Ann Norman, 60, of Springville, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, after a courageous, 2-year battle with cancer. Celebration of Life: 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. The family will greet friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday before the service at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald, of 41 years; her father, Earl (Judi) Merritt; four children, Terri (Kevin) Norman of Hiawatha, David (Tracey) Norman of Marion, Michael (Lisa) Norman of Marion and Stacey (Mason) Loftus of Logan, Iowa; grandchildren, Christopher Palmer, Isabelle and Elise Norman and Macklin and Madden Loftus; six siblings, Bob (Cindy) Merritt of Anamosa, Bev (Gary) Peters of Ames, Becky (Alan) Rawson of Walker, Brad (Theresa) Merritt of Springville, Bill (Sandy) Merritt of Center Point and Betty (Jason) Kirklin of Robins; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille.
Barb was born July 5, 1952, the daughter of Earl and Lucille (Balik) Merritt in Cedar Rapids. She was united in marriage to Gerald Norman on Jan. 1, 1972, in Cedar Rapids. Barb worked for Verizon business for 11 years in customer service.
Barb loved to cook and garden. She enjoyed going to the state fair each year, and touring different wineries. She was an avid fan of Iowa Hawkeye women's basketball and Iowa football. Barb especially loved spending time with all of her family and grandchildren.
Instead of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Barb's name.
