Nancy A. Dethmann, 74, of Tipton, Iowa, formerly of Clinton, passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Eric Dethmann, Amy Crock, Nathan and Benen Crock, Larry Laing and Jerry Paisley. Honorary pallbearer will be David Crock. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
Nancy was born on Oct. 9, 1942, in Clinton, the daughter of David and Annie (Jensen) Laing. She graduated from Goose Lake High School in 1960 and from St. Ambrose College. She had married Donald Dethmann in 1965. She was a homemaker and beautician, and had worked at the University of Iowa Hospitals as a lab technician. Nancy enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family, including her Jensen and Laing cousins.
Nancy is survived by her two children, Amy (David) Crock of Tipton, Iowa, and Eric (Lindsey) Dethmann of North Liberty, Iowa; two grandsons, Nathan and Benen Crock; and a brother, Larry (Joan) Laing of Spragueville, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
