Karen G. Jensen, 61, of Independence, died peacefully March 5, 2014, at her home following a long illness.
Karen was born April 9, 1952, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the daughter of Ethan Ray and Marvel Jean (Ramthun) Brayton. She was a graduate of Inde-pendence High School and Ellsworth Community College. She worked at the Buchanan County Health Center as a ward clerk and nurse's aide for 40 years.
On May 21, 1999, she was united in marriage to Rick Jensen at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed going to craft shows and playing handbells at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ethan Brayton.
She is survived by her husband, Rick; a son, Jason Hunziker, Independence; two grandchildren, Jason Scott Hunziker and Collyn McAtee, Indepen- dence; her mother, Marvel J. Bray-ton, Fort Worth, Texas; a brother, Brad Brayton, Independence; three sisters, Janelle Brayton, Independence, Rita Klendworth, Fort Worth, Texas, and Carmen Bussard, Des Moines.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday, March 7, at Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence. Friends may call from 1 p.m. to services Friday at the funeral home.
